Welcome to SOO-Barrie!

We are the local level of Special Olympics Ontario, which is part of a dynamic world-wide, not-for-profit organization, dedicated to promoting a more active and better quality of life for people with intellectual disabilities, through their involvement in sports.

The Barrie Community Special Olympics provides year round athletic programs for over 200 athletes in 13 different sports, locally.

Over 125 volunteers and coaches donate their time and effort. All of the funds raised for the Barrie Community Special Olympics go towards supporting the athletes.

Thanks are extended to local service clubs who have specifically provided funding this year towards the 3 athletes heading to the World Winter Games in Austria.Image result for knights of columbus barrie logo

The May Court Club of Barrie has graciously supported Special Olympics programming in Barrie since 2013.  After first providing a donation to benefit the swim club (given the high cost of the pool rental), the May Court Club has been a continued valuable sponsor.    Providing funds to offset the cost of aquatic training and competition.  It is the amazing support of organizations like this that continues to lend to the success of our athletes at all levels, on and off the playing field... Thank you.

Rotary Club of Barrie has sponsored two athletes:
thank you!

Barrie Civitan Club has provided support towards snowshoe athlete Jade: thank you!
These contributions go a long way in supporting not only these 16 athletes, but all programs that provide training and competition opportunities to the more than 200 registered athletes in Barrie.
