Special Olympics Ontario - Barrie
WHAT A TOURNEY!
HUGE appreciation is extended to the Barrie Soccer Club for their partnership in hosting what became the largest Soccer Provincial Qualifier in Ontario! Thanks to the whole team of Barrie volunteers for putting up tents, counting pizzas (thanks Dominos!), cutting watermelons, sorting trophies, and all else you did.
Welcome to SOO-Barrie!
We are the local level of Special Olympics Ontario, which is part of a dynamic world-wide, not-for-profit organization, dedicated to promoting a more active and better quality of life for people with intellectual disabilities, through their involvement in sports.
The Barrie Community Special Olympics provides year round athletic programs for over 200 athletes in 13 different sports, locally.
Over 125 volunteers and coaches donate their time and effort. All of the funds raised for the Barrie Community Special Olympics go towards supporting the athletes.

Kiwanis Club for unending support
Rotary Club of Barrie has sponsored two athletes:
These contributions go a long way in supporting not only these 16 athletes, but all programs that provide training and competition opportunities to the more than 200 registered athletes in Barrie.
January 31st, 2016 the Snow Cats took to the trails for a Sunday morning trek through sunnidale park. Joined by CTV Barrie, the athletes showed off their skills and in the true nature of Special Olympics had an amazing time!
Special thanks to BTTE!
The Brothers to the End motorcycle club came on board with SOO-Barrie in 2014, to show their support for our athletes. Their efforts saw funds raised, that resulted in a new community-wide uniform purchase. Athletes from all sports look great in their new jackets.
Our local athletes were pleased to stop in and provide the face for the "Share a Dream" campaign at both Staples stores in Barrie. Thanks to Staples for the ongoing support!
