Active Sport Club Reports – March, 2018

Swimming

We are on our way to Orillia today for a swim meet, 24 athletes are attending.
Our final swim will be this Wednesday
, a fun swim with both groups.
Final dinner April 4 at East Side Mario’s.

5-Pin

We had another successful in-house tournament on Monday March 19.  We are getting ready for the PQ in Peterborough on April 7.  We have 35 athletes and 11 coaches attending.  We will now be bowling on Easter Monday, but will be finishing on April 23.

Basketball

Advanced has ended the season on March 24, 2018.  The basketball team attended the Mary Mathews tournament at St. Andrew’s College. 11 athletes attended the 4 basketball game meet. The team won third place in the C division. The team won 2 games and lost 2 games. The athletes played well and were proud of their results.

Intermediate/novice basketball is still active at the YMCA. No tournaments in the immediate future with the season finishing with a pizza party.

10 Pin Bowling

The season is slowly winding down.  April will be a busy month for us.  We have bowling for Big Brothers/Big Sisters on the 3rd of April, our Big Four Conference Invitational on April 21, and hopefully another virtual tournament.  Our last day of bowling is May 5, 2018.

Curling

We had a very successful PQ at the Stroud Curling Club. They were great hosts and we had good food, good curling and a good time.

The 3 Barrie teams did well, with one team winning their round robin, but losing in the '1 vs 2 final' to Orillia.
We wrapped up our season last Thursday with a closing meal at the restaurant in the curling club.
All in all, a very successful season!
